"Dominos on steroids" 2010-04-07
By Contrary2ordinary
Qwirkle is a great game of many levels. The youngest can play simply or advanced game players can play with strategy and the two can be playing at the same time. This multi award winning games uses colors and shapes instead of letters or numbers so even non-readers can play. Essentially Qwirkle is scrabble meets dominos on steroids. I don't know how else to put it. We received the game as a gift and in turn have given the game as a gift numerous times over. Just over Easter weekend we had friends and family in for the whole weekend and a friend asks "can we play Qwirkle?". My daughter who is in second grade asks often when her dad and brother leave for BB practice "mom, do you want to play Qwirkle with me?". It encourages strategy and matching skills along with quick thinking. It also develops math, color and shape recognition, reasoning, and social skills. The competition can be played as to who scores the most points is the winner or as a self improvement moment: did I score better this game than last? Lastly it is cognitively challenging like checkers and chess....which require and help develop: planning, strategy, persistence, and critical thinking skills. Each time this game is played it is different because the outcomes rely on the luck of the draw which in turn changes how the game is built.

"A 'Must-Have' Family Game" 2010-04-02
By Barbara Davis (Midland, TX)
My family and I often meet at family gatherings and play games. While we tend to try lots of new games, only a few of them have earned a place on our 'permanent game shelf'. Qwirkle quickly became one of our favorite games because it is easy to learn, easy to play....yet challenging because every game is different. My husband and I purchased multiple copies of this game to be given to several family units at our upcoming family reunion. I'm sure we will have a fun and boisterous "Qwirkle Tournament" involving all ages (4-99)!!! Even our youngest grandchildren (ages 4-9) quickly mastered basic moves and picked up 'higher strategy' thinking.....it's hard to find a game that is easy enough for the youngsters, yet appeals to adults, too!!

"I like it!" 2010-03-24
By Erica (USA)
We got this game as a gift, and have enjoyed it. We were looking for more games that you could play with as few as 2 players. It is not complicated, which makes it a nice game to bring out for a fun game night - no long-winded, painful explanations. I also like that the tiles came in a bag. We threw away the box and just keep the small bag full of tiles and the instructions (I hate extra packaging)!

"Quirkle is fun for all ages" 2010-03-24
By Kristyn Jones (Irvine, CA)
Quirkle has been a lot of fun for us to play. We have played with people from 25 to 88 years old and it is a good time for everyone. It is a good thinking and strategy game that is dependent on skill and the luck of the draw. The rules are easy enough to learn and we would occasionaly catch each other trying to make illegal moves. The game keeps everyone engaged even when it is not their turn. The wooden pieces are durable and the bag is nice for storage and game play. We are a little concerned that with time the paint will rub off the tiles. Overall we totally recommend it.

Looked everywhere for this game after playing it with friends. Nobody stocked it after Christmas. All my grandkids 4 and up love it and fun for adults too. Ordered it 3 days before a birthday and it got here in time. Highly recommend. Educational too!
