Editorial Review

It's 2 toys in 1! As a sturdy, stable walker, the Step Start Walk 'n Ride toy helps babies learn to stand, take their first steps, and walk. As the grow older, it easily converts to a first ride-on toy! It has a locking mechanism that only parents can activate, so children can't change modes by themselves. Kids can explore the hands-on activities in both the walker and ride-on modes to see fascinating sights, hear silly sounds and touch interesting textures. Adult assembly required
When little wobblers are bored with walls and sofa edges, and there's no one to offer a hand, they can two-foot it safely across that open ocean of living-room floor with the help of the Step Start walker. This dual-purpose toy acts as stable support as they learn to walk, then lets them roll along when they want to ride. Once they are secure on their legs, the walker converts easily to a first ride-on toy. (Only adults can operate the wheel-lock mechanism.) A flexible antenna, spinning drum, clicking gear, and other sight-touch-sound features provide sit-down play fun. Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver. --Ava Natov

"Wobbly and not baby friendly" 2010-03-13
By Kayta R. Norris (Fairfield, CA)
My daughter is 9 months old and is just learning how to walk. She received this as a gift for Christmas last year and was unable to use it at first despite being able to pull herself up to standing. The wheels on this are simply far too slippery. As soon as my daughter would begin to pull herself up on this it would roll away and bring her back to her knees. The gear shift, front compartment and rear rattle barrel were captivating to her though. After really getting the walking motion down on her Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Stroll-Along Walker I let her have another go at this. Pulling herself up is easier now but it'll still roll away from her from time to time. The wheels definitly need improvement for this to be an effective walker.

Another concern I have with this is that when my daughter does manage to get herself standing and walking on it, the handle that she's holding onto seems to be really unstable. It will wobble from side to side as she walks and that's not so helpful when she as a 9 month old is already a bit wobbly on her feet. The handle could stand to be made from some firmer plastics that wouldn't allow so much movement.

The space for my daughter's feet (which is small, but not as small as other reviewers have made it out to be) could stand to be bigger. My daughter is on the taller side of the 9 month old height scale but the depth of this part doesn't seem to affect her stride.

Overall, if you have a little girl who's ready to start walking I reccomend purchasing the Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Stroll-Along Walker. It's very stable, doesn't move an inch when my daughter pulls herself up on it and has plenty of room for those babies that may have larger strides.

"Too easy to pull over" 2010-02-16
By NC
This toy is ok for one to ride on, but didn't really work too well for walking with. The problem is it fell over when my son put too much weight while trying to walk, he tried to pull up using it a few times and it fell on him. As a result it was never really used for walking which was what I bought it for.

"Gets them walking" 2010-02-10
By Piper Barker (Trumbull, CT USA)
Provided just enough support to aid my child in taking her first steps. A little slick on hardwood floors for a child who still doesn't have enough control on their feet, but in little time they learn to get their feet moving to keep up with the walker. Takes a little getting used too, that's all, but I would certainly recommend it.

"Great to Grow" 2010-02-05

My godson loved this toy. He is just about to walk and took to it with enthusiasm. His older brother showed him what was possible and he was smiling. I look forward to see him maturing with the uses of the toy. Good job!

"Walk and Ride" 2010-01-17

This toy was for a friend's son. It was great to see the look on his face when the boy sat on and rode it around the room.

GREAT!
