"Beautiful and fun!" 2010-03-28
By D. Sloane (Tucson, AZ)
We purchased this farm for our daughter's 6th birthday; and after 24 hours it is a great success. The led lit gel is very pretty to begin with, but once the ants start digging it is spectacular. The tunnels look crystalline and the transparency of the whole aparatus allows the activity of the ants to be observed amazingly! We will be buying this for most birthdays this year (probably even for some of the adults!). Now that we have the website, ants can be ordered to arrive at around the same time as the farm.

"Niece's 6th Birthday present a big hit!" 2010-03-22
By Jonathan D. Horin (Ashburn, VA United States)
I live several 100 miles from my niece and only get to see her a couple of times a year. I bought this for her 6th birthday. She was thrilled at opening the box and how pretty the gel was when lighted. Then I got an excited call when the ants arrived and were released. I got daily updates as the tunnels were dug. Overall, a great present.

"5 Star's (if the lights didn't blow out!) Ant Farm..." 2010-03-17
By M. Hogan (RI)
This is a beautiful ant farm, by far! But after two plug in's so to speak, the lights blew out-now we are only left with two working lights! Ugh! The beauty is in the lights, especially with the blue color. The first shipment of ants were smashed (due to the postal service)and we had waited over 4 weeks, the second shipment arrived in seven days-37 live ants in all! Beware, it is a small vile, so when you are trying to open the tube to get them into your farm, it gets scary for sure!! The ants are big!! I had to keep tapping the tube and dumped all the ants (only two dead ones really) out quick! I would give this five stars if the lights were still active, that really stinks! Oh well, should be fun all the same!

"Antwork Illuminated Ant Farm" 2010-03-15
By Joan (St. Louis)
My daughter (9) received this ant farm as a gift for her birthday. The reviews said to wait until warm weather to order the ants so the ants do not die in transit. So we are waiting. She is very excited to try it out.

"Could be dangerous" 2010-02-28
By S. Mahoney (California)
Well we bought this for our 7yr old son for Christmas and a week later we ordered the ants.. The ants arrived in great condition (only 2 dead). We dumped the ants in and waited about 1 day for the tunnels to start. Our family enjoyed watching the ants for about the first month. The ants would make tunnel after tunnel for days, we loved it. But.... After about the first month all the ants (who my son named Judy because you couldn't tell them about, you had to name them the same name) seemed to be on the top with all the little balls they had collected from the tunnel digging.. They we noticed the little buggers all around the top of the habitat eating the rubber seal. I could NOT tape the top of the habitat fast enough!! I don't know what would of happened if we never noticed them eating the rubber seal.. I think this is an awesome thing for learning about ants behaviors and watching them up close. However... I really think they should have some sort of warning on the box!
